1000 Blind and Visually Impaired People to Receive Specially Designed Smart Phones

1000 blind and visually impaired people in India will be given specially designed smart phones as part of the rehabilitation project Kazhcha.

“The project had been devised to empower the disabled by making communication and mobility much easier and help them become self-sufficient by making technological advances more accessible to them,” said Handicapped Persons’ Welfare Corporation, Health Minister, K.K. Shylaja. “The government allocated ₹1.5 crore for implementing the project.”

Recipients would be selected in their respective district and would be given two days’ technical training by the Kerala Federation of the Blind.

The application form for applying for the Kazhcha project could be accessed from www.hpwc.kerala.gov.in

The filled-in form, along with relevant documents, should be submitted to the Handicapped Persons’ Welfare Corporation by September 29.
