Amazon defines all lists differently, since every occasion is unique. A wish list is different from a shopping list, for instance. This guide will walk you through creating a registry for specific occasions, such as baby showers or weddings. This is a great idea for those who don’t really want to send their guests hunting for gifts, or who have guests from all over the globe. Here’s how it works:
- 1. Sign in to your Amazon.com Account.
- 2. Go to Gift Cards And Registry. From here you can create a new registry, view an existing registry, or view gift card options.
- 3. Choose the type of registry you’re looking for (Baby Registry or Wedding Registry).
- 4. After you select the designated registry type, you will be directed to a page where you can either create a new registry, or view an existing one. To create a new registry, choose the create option, which appears as a link.
- 5. You will be prompted to enter some information to get started. For wedding registries, this information includes your account email and password, along with your partner’s email address if you wish to invite him or her to join, along with the date and location of your wedding.
- 6. After all of the information has been filled in, you are ready to create your registry. You can now begin adding items to it. Just search for items as you normally would when shopping, however, instead of adding to cart, you should choose the option “Add to … registry”.
What Can I Do With My Registry?
You can do a lot with a digital registry. As guests purchase gifts, they will be tracked and visible on a purchased list, and you can properly thank each individual. You can modify quantities of items right from the registry list as well, so if you find you might need one more of an item than you thought, no worries. Each item appears in its own section, just as in the Amazon shopping cart, and one each item, a pop up combo box appears which shows how many are still needed. When selected, you can quickly change the quantity by choosing from the preset options.
Checking On Gifts
If anything should happen, you may wish to check on your gifts. To do this, perform the following steps:
- 1. Go to your registry under the Gift Cards and Registry section. You will notice that there will be links for total number of items, as well as purchased items.
- 2. Select the link for purchased items.
- 3. Select an individual item. All items are links. Now you should see things such as reviews, shipping information, if available, and guest information.
How Do I Thank My Guests?
Everyone appreciates a little acknowledgement for their generosity. Amazon has you covered with this Thank You List, which updates as items are purchased. To access this list, do the following:

- 3. Choose an item from the list. Each item is a link that can be selected.
