Audio Description Comes to Amazon Video for Blind and Low-Vision Customers

More than 100 movies from studios such as Disney, Lionsgate, NBC, Paramount, and Warner Brothers are now available with English audio descriptions, including such titles as The Hunger Games, Inception, Captain America: Civil War, and The Big Short.

10 of the most popular Amazon Original TV shows such as Bosch, The Man in the High Castle, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, Creative Galaxy, and Gortimer Gibbons are also now available with audio description.

Audio descriptions are included with a Prime Video subscription, as well as those for purchase or rent. You can try audio description on the Fire TV, Fire Tablets, iOS devices, and Android devices.

Customers can browse through the list of titles by going to the audio description page. The list will be updated as they expand the number of titles which support audio descriptions.

“I am delighted to announce that last week we launched audio description support for Amazon Video, providing our blind and visually-impaired customers access to professional narration describing what is taking place during stretches where there is no dialog.” Peter Korn, an Accessibility Architect at Amazon said in a press release.

To play a title with audio descriptions, customers just need to select the “English- audio description” audio option from the “Subtitles and Audio” menu during playback.
