Brazil research institute CPqD has partnered with ABECS (Brazilian Association of Credit Card and Service Companies) to develop Pay Voice, a mobile application for visually impaired people who use payment cards.

Available for smartphones with Android and iOS, Pay Voice helps visually impaired people (estimated at around 6 million in Brazil) to confirm the value of the transaction and the form of payment, before entering a PIN on the POS machine.

The app “reads” to the user the information on the screen on the value and form of payment by integrating with TalkBack for Android and VoiceOver for iOS.
