Today, I had the new LG G6 in my hands for a few minutes. Since I work in a cellphone store, I can test new phones when we receive them. Here are my first impressions about it.
There are different models of the Lg G6. Depending where you live in the world, you might be restricted in your choice. For example, here in Canada, the G6 is only offered in 32GB storage capacity. Certain models also include wireless charging. Fortunately, you can add a micro Sd card up to 256GB to extend the storage capacity. Depending where you live, you may have a 64/128GB Lg G6 model available. Wireless charging may or may not be available as well.
In the box, you will find the phone itself with a USB-C cable. You will also have a USB-C to USB-C wall adapter to allow fast charging. To transfer data between your phone and your computer, you will also find a USB to USB-C cable in the box. If you use the USB to USB-C cable to charge your phone, the charging time will be longer. The wall adapter that comes with it is only compatible with USB-C connection. In Canada, the G6 costs a thousand dollars.
The LG G6 is made of metal. The back is made with Gorilla Glass 5. It is pleasant to touch. It has a screen of 5.7 inches. It takes almost the all surface of the phone. The Power key is at the back of the phone. The finger print scanner is located on the power key. It works pretty well. The phone unlocks quickly. The volume buttons are on the left side of the phone. As for the headphone jack, it is located in the top right corner of the phone. Sound quality seems good. The speaker is loud. It is located at the right of the USB-C port, which is located at the bottom of the phone. The phone also has 2 microphones. One is located near the headphone jack at the top of the device. The other is near the charging port at the bottom.
The G6’s UI seems to be accessible with Talkback, though I would recommend you to use another launcher for a better Android experience. The G6 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat. At the moment, Android 7.1 doesn’t seem to be available yet.
The Lg G6 is certified IP68. It means that it can be dropped in 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes. However, I don’t recommend you putting into water for fun. If you do it, please do it at your own risks.
I played with the G6 for about 20 to 30 minutes. This is why the article is very general. If you have specific questions about it, feel free to ask me. However, Please keep in mind that I can’t setup accounts on the store’s devices even if I reset them once I’m done playing with them. That’s why I may not be able to answer all of your questions. That being said, I will do my best to answer you.
