If you’ve changed the region of your Google Play Store in order to download a game or app unavailable in your home country, you’ll appreciate Google’s latest addition to the Play Store. The new Country and profiles feature quickly allows visitors to what used to be called the Android Market, to check out what apps are available in different countries.
First, keep in mind that Google is offering this feature only to Android users who meet a certain criteria. Those given the opportunity to use the new Country and profiles feature are those who have previously made a valid purchase using a valid payment method from a version of the Google Play Store belonging to a different country than the one the user lives in. The entire process of switching to the Google Play Store in a different region takes just three steps:
Step 1: Launch the Play Store app up on your device and wait for all content and information to load. Once loaded, head into the Account settings area of the Play Store.
Step 2: If Google has decided to expose this new option to you, likely based on the fact that you’ve used a different Play Store region previously with a valid payment for that country then you will be given a new option titled Country and profiles. If this option is available, select it.
Step 3: In this section, you will be shown the country that your current Play Store account is pointing to, which will have a check in it to the right-hand side. You will also see a list of other countries which are available to you. All you need to do now is simply select the available country that you want to switch to.
This is a new dynamic feature implemented by Google and will only be visible on accounts which match the pre-defined criteria, for example have previously had a different Play Store account active and have made a valid purchase there with a valid payment method. If you are not the adventurous type and have never strayed from home when making a purchase from the Google Play Store, you most likely will not see the Country and profiles option on your phone.
