APPLE iOS 11 was unveiled at WWDC and here’s how to download the public beta version before anyone else.
Before you go any further, you need to ensure that your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch is compatible with iOS 11.
iOS 11 beta supports iPhone 5s or later, iPod touch (6th generation), iPad mini 2, and iPad Air or later.
The public beta for iOS 11 will available by the end of June, with the final release scheduled for sometime in September.
If you want to get Apple’s latest software and don’t have a developer account with Apple, you can sign up for free here to be notified when the public beta is available.
As a member of the Apple Beta Software Program, you’ll then be able to download the latest public beta, as well as subsequent updates, straight from the iOS Software Update.
Simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update to find out whether a new iOS beta is available to download.
It’s also worth remembering that as public beta software has not yet been commercially released by Apple, it will probably contain errors or inaccuracies and may not function as well as commercially released software.
Below you can find Apple’s Beta Software Program Frequently Asked Questions.
What is the Apple Beta Software Program?
The Apple Beta Software Program lets users try out pre-release software. The feedback you provide on quality and usability helps identify issues, fix them, and make Apple software even better. Please note that since the public beta software has not yet been commercially released by Apple, it may contain errors or inaccuracies and may not function as well as commercially released software. Be sure to back up your Mac using Time Machine and your iOS device with iTunes before installing beta software. Install only on non-production devices that are not business critical. Apple strongly recommends installing on a secondary system or device, or on a secondary partition on your Mac.
How do I get the public betas?
As a member of the Apple Beta Software Program, you’ll be able to enroll your Mac or iOS device to get the latest public beta, as well as subsequent updates, directly from the Mac App Store or iOS Software Update.
How do I provide my feedback to Apple?
The macOS and iOS public betas come with the built-in Feedback Assistant app, which can be opened from the second page of the Home screen on your iOS device or from the Dock on your Mac. The Feedback Assistant app is also available from the help menu of any app by choosing ‘Send Feedback’. If you experience an issue or something does not work as expected, send your feedback directly to Apple with Feedback Assistant.
