About Jessica Rickards
I have always believed in one mantra: don't think outside the box, think like there is no box. This has applied to everything I've done, from taking Astronomy class in college to playing sports. I am currently an assistive technology trainer by trade, empowering others to use technology in their daily lives to do things they felt were impossible, or helping them use technology to achieve their career goals. I've always believed if I could dream it, I could do it; and so far I've been right.
It's been amazing to be a part of such an extraordinary team here at CoolBlindTech. I've always loved empowering others through technology, and through CoolBlindTech, I am able to do this on a wider scale. I believe that awareness and insight can only be gained when information is available, and CoolBlindTech is an amazing resource for providing such information. Knowledge is power.
In my free time, which seems to be dwindling, I enjoy reading, playing board games and tabletop games, as well as writing fiction. I also help my husband in his candle making pursuits. Nature is my escape, and I try to spend as much time outside as I can. I am a strong advocate for Braille and Braille literacy, and I believe that reading is fundamental to learning and growth. My areas of technical expertise include iOS and Braille note takers, JAWS, NVDA, System Access, and many iOS multiplayer games.
