The creators of Math Melodies have developed a fun and interactive way for blind and visually impaired children to understand basic math concepts that are usually presented in a visual way. Although this app will work on an iPhone, it is designed to work best on an iPad. It allows a child to get audio feedback while feeling the layout of the math problem on the screen. In this way, a visually impaired child can see how the math problem looks in the same way a sighted child does. This might seem like a minor thing, but it is incredibly difficult for a young visually impaired child to understand these math problems when they are read by a screen reader on a computer. They just don’t get how the problems are being presented to them.

Audible Easter Eggs Make the Holiday Inclusive for Blind Children.
Easter is rapidly approaching, but not all children are ready for the hunt. An Easter egg hunt can feel like an exclusionary event for a blind child, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
There are battery powered plastic Easter eggs out there that can either beep when turned on, or talk to give hints of where they are located.
Head over to Amazon or MaxiAids to find beeping eggs that can be used year after year. You will only need to replace the batteries from time to time.
If you want something a little different than a simple beeping Easter egg, try JoJo & Friends Electronic Talking Hide ‘ and Find ‘Em Easter Egg Hunt. Not surprisingly, you will get a better deal on these Easter eggs if you buy in bulk.
The Brains of Blind People Really Are Wired to Enhance Other Senses
I lost my sight at the age of twelve and ever since then I think I’ve heard just about every stereotype there is for people who are visually impaired. My childhood friends waited for the day I could hear like Daredevil and warned them when our parents were coming back home. Family members pitched in and bought me a keyboard and insisted that I become the next musical sensation. Although I can still play a decent rendition of “Chopsticks” I am no closer to becoming a rock star.
Developer Makes Website Inaccessible To Sighted For Awareness
Comics Empower is an audio comic store for the blind and or the visually impaired. The idea behind the Comics Empower store is to provide audio versions of comic books, much like Graphic Audio. The main difference is that Graphic Audio adapts and dramatizes comic books whereas Comics Empower provides a panel by panel description so the listener knows what’s in every comic. Comics Empower puts the blind first, and this has been illustrated, yet again, in a recent site update that puts the sighted in a dependent situation, requiring the aid of a blind person using a screen reader.
I Miss Blink Nation
I’d just like to take a short trip down memory lane for a bit because it’s a bit freezing tonight and there isn’t anything good on Blindy TV at the moment. For the sighted people, you may want to skip this post because the soap box that I’m about to go on won’t make any sense to you guys, just kidding.
