On the heels of the success of the Amazon digital personal assistant Alexa we have seen an explosion in the personal assistant realm with Google, Microsoft, Apple and recently with Samsung introducing Bixby. So which one of these assistants is smarter?
According to consulting company Stone Temple, Google Assistant on Google Home appears to be the smartest of the digital personal assistants. Stone Temple collected a set of 5,000 questions about everyday factual knowledge to ask each personal assistant.
Google Assistant was able to answer 68.1% of the questions, with more than 90% of the answers complete and correct. Second place went to Alexa on Amazon Echo, answering 20.7% of questions, Alexa answered questions completely and correctly 87% of the time.
Cortana answered 56.5% of the questions with an 81.9% accuracy rate. Siri, however, was a bit further back, answering just 21.7% of the questions with a 62.2% accuracy rate.
Stone Temple notes that though Google was the clear winner, Cortana capabilities have improved dramatically in the last three years. Siri was the least accurate, but the researchers said Apple’s product does boast more humorous answers than other assistants.
