The Skype team are addressing accessibility improvements to the Skype applications on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. The improvements are part of Microsoft’s mission to make technology more accessible and empower people to achieve more.

According to the Skype team’s blog post, the recent updates to Skype helped the development team direct attention to areas of the app that needed more changes. The team has since then worked to understand the needs of customers and is actively working on feedback to address accessibility issues. It is explained by the Skype team: “At Skype, and across the company, accessibility is a priority. We know that technology can play an important role in creating a more accessible and inclusive world. We are committed to continually improving our software and services to meet the needs of all our customers.”

Users can expect more fixes and improvements to come soon, with a particular focus on improving the keyboard focus, and improving the accessible names and labels of controls. For now, though, users who depend on accessibility features can share more ideas on Microsoft’s Accessibility Feedback forum. Users can also join the Skype Insider community for early access to any new upcoming features.
