Scotiabank has released a new app for iPhone and iPad users, which it describes as “redesigned for real life.”

The new app, version 20.0.0, features a new look and logo, to go with fast money transfers, new shortcuts for easy navigation and quick answers to common questions. The bank first notified customers a redesign was coming back on May 10, 2019.

“Whether you’re waiting in line, just woke up, or only have one hand free, we designed the app so that when real life happens, you can still bank the way you want,” explains Scotiabank.

There’s a new menu along the bottom, while a feature called ‘slide to pay’ seemingly resembles the original iPhone’s ‘slide to unlock’ from the lockscreen, to confirm money transfers and bill payments.

Scotiabank says the new app has been optimized for size and speed, with faster load times and improved stability. Dynamic font sizing and screen reader compatibility for VoiceOver users is now available as well. The new design features a lot of white for a clean look.

Previously, the Scotiabank iOS app was a web wrapper for the bank’s mobile website offering a sub-par experience, but now it’s a real iOS app that actually is easy to use. The app supports iPhone X displays and larger, with ‘notch’ support and Face ID.

When signing into the new app for the first time, you’ll require your ScotiaCard number or username and password.
