As long as you remember your password, you can sign in to dropbox.com and change your password through your account settings.
If you can’t sign in to your Dropbox account, a quick way to reset your password is to visit the Forgot password page. You can also try one of the methods below.
How to change your password (if you still remember the old one)
If you’re already signed in to dropbox.com, you can update your password in your account settings.
- Open dropbox.com in your web browser.
- Select the avatar at the top of any page.
- Select Settings.
- Select the Security tab.
- In the Password section, select Change password.
- Enter the email address you used to create the account.
- Check your email inbox, and select the link in the email you received to reset your password.
- If you don’t receive the reset email, check the spam folder of your inbox. If the reset email isn’t there, try adding no-reply@dropbox.com to your address book and then resending the password reset email.
How to reset your password on dropbox.com
- Open dropbox.com in your web browser.
- Select Sign in.
- Select Forgot your password?
- Enter the email address you used to create the account.
- Check your email inbox, and select the link in the email you received to reset your password.
Your new password will automatically apply to any computers or mobile devices linked to your account.
How to reset your password on the desktop app
- Select the Dropbox icon in your system tray or menu bar.
- Select the globe icon to be redirected to dropbox.com.
- Select your name at the top of the screen.
- Select Settings.
- Select the Security tab.
- Select Change password.
- Enter the email address you used to create the account.
- Check your email inbox, and select the link in the email you received to reset your password.
When using the Dropbox desktop app, you only need your password when you first install the app, or whenever you link or relink your computer to your Dropbox account.
